Books.

One of the inspirations for a lot of my style comes from Influence written by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
This particular book is filled with images, and interviews with amazing artist, designers and social idols. All the interviews are laid back and done by one or both of the sisters. One fun thing about this is that the sisters got polaroid pictures of or with each person interviewed.

Another book I have been really into has bee Inside the painters studio by Joe Fig. This was assigned by Pedigo for painting one, but I know I will have it for quite a while. Its wonderful and has inspired me ten fold. Every time I finish an artist I become inspired to keep moving forward.

Another one I have come to enjoy is The Undressed Art: Why We Draw. by Peter Steinhart. A book that gives a person like myself reassurance that others have the same ideas, the same views and struggles. I feel a little more confident as an artist when I can relate to the artist in this book.

Final Project Inspiration: Red Velvet

One of my main inspirations is the vintage store Red Velvet. This shop was started as an online store, and moved quickly to a shop. They keep a tight connection between their vintage boutique and a group of blogs. Each red velvet girl/artist has a blog where they keep connected. The images that flood theses blogs are amazing, from the detail of the vintage to the diy aspects they give you ideas constantly.

Its about time: Fawn in a Jar

I carved a little fawn, he then found his way into a jar of paint thinner.  From 8pm until the following morning at 11 he partially stood in the jar and solution.
The fawn was in solvent up to his chest leaving most of his neck as well as the head to be left out and untouched.

The next morning around 11am I removed the fawn, the portion that was in the paint thinner seemed fine until i set him on the paper towel and pieces began to fall of and become kind of like mush.

poor fawn lost a limb and began to become heavily warped but his head and ears live another day as cute as when i first carved them.
