Francis Alys:
In the work by Francis Alys there is a connection between himself and the material. The connection between the ice and his body his visual as well as personal. But it also illustrates the loss of material, the change in status and the sense that things that once were disappear. All of the time that he devotes to the process of making something that besides the documentation does no longer exist. He leaves his work and his efforts within the city, on the streets.
Janine Antoni:
I find the most connection to Janine Antoni, because of the way she decides to respond to a place that holds meaning. She makes a connection from her material or practice to what she knows and remembers, her deliberate use of place and space is the one of the strongest parts of her work. The work makes an impact because of each decision that she makes, and her personal connection to the work.
William Pope L.:
The work by William Pope L. is the one that I believe is the most about the impact of the physical action and the public interaction. The use of the public as a canvas is what creates the dialogue within the work, it gives the element of flux and change within the work as well. With the unpredictable parts of the work comes the real connection of the artist to the piece.
